Poi Toa

Our topic this term is Traditional Māori Games and Sports. A sport we have been focusing on this week is Poi Toa. It is similar to the poi used to perform in kapa haka, but we get to play sports with it. In the olden days, our ancestors would use the poi to strengthen their wrists and prepare themselves for warfare.

We have not used the traditional materials instead, we used:

*Tarpoline
*Duct Tape
*Newspaper
*Rope
*Plastic Bag
*Scissors

Check out some photos of us making them:
